Description
Malic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acid that is found in apples. It inhibits yeast, mold, and bacteria, controls the pH in formulations, and acts as a skin exfoliant, removing dead cells and encouraging cell turnover. Malic acid is also a humectant, meaning it helps retain moisture in the skin. The hydroxy acids exfoliate the top layer of skin, helping smooth and even complexion, keep pores unclogged, brighten skin, and even fade dark marks and discoloration. Malic acid is available in 1kg sizes and can be used in conjunction with other acids such as Vitamin C, vegetable glycerine, and hyaluronic acid to increase the effects.
Malic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (also known as AHAs or the fruit acids) first found in apples in 1700s. Malic acid inhibits yeasts, molds and bacteria, controls the pH in formulations and acts as a skin exfoliant, removing dead cells, encouraging cell turnover, brightening skin and helping to keep pores unclogged.
Malic acid is the one of the larger molecules of the hydroxy acids. This means it has decreased skin penetration abilities but makes it the more gentle of the AHAs. It also has humectant properties.
